The brand that I chose was Vans. Vans is a clothing/shoe brand that almost every teen owns, whether that’d be shoes, socks, sweaters, or hats. This first came out in 1966 the company, “The Van Doren Rubber” was named after the brothers, Paul and Jim Van Doren. They have been a very successful company since their first release of shoes. The Van Doren company values their commitment they make to their consumers everyday. According to their website, their promise is, ” Designed for the creative pursuit of being you.”

Some ways the Van Doren company markets their products is through skateboarding events. Originally, the company was specifically made for “skaters” that’s why they sponsors and support a lot of skateboarding events. A very well known tournament that the company has been participating in is called “The Warped Tour”, they have been sponsoring this event as soon as they started their company. Although I don’t know if this company donates to political parties, I know that they have donated over six million dollars to charities who’s purpose is to spark creativity and imagination. The reason why they donate so much money to these charities is because that’s the whole purpose of their company, like they said in their promise. Lastly, the Vans company has evolved greatly. They’ve gone from a company who was only for skaters, to a globally sold products. Almost everyone now in days have some type of Vans product, including myself. On the first day the Vans Doren Rubber company opened, they sold 12 pairs of shoes, now they have sold millions and millions of not only shoes, but clothing.

Meme Analysis

    The reason why I made this meme was because now in days this generation seems to care a lot more about any type of animal abuse, then child abuse. I’m not saying that animal abuse is correct, under any circumstances, but the public’s priorities are completely messed up. There always seems to be more news on social media about animal abuse then child abuse. 

There has recently been a documentary about a kid named Gabriel Fernandez who was beaten to death by his own mother and stepfather back in 2013. There was given evidence that the police department and Child Protective Services knew about this ongoing child abuse, but didnt do anything about it. The police department and the Child Protective Services failed this kid back in 2013, but the story behind Gabriel’s case isn’t coming out to the light until this year, 2020. I can’t imagine how many more kids they’ve neglected over the past years that no one has knowledge about. 

 The media plays a huge part about issues like these being known. Almost everyone has some type of connection to the media, especially social media, so my intended audience is everyone, but especially CPS. I made this meme using pathos to make the public know about the reality. A lot of videos have been exposed about pet owners mistreating their pet, that the public makes it known and everyone stands up for that animal, but not much for the children being abused. I feel like the organization PETA, works harder to stop animal abuse,  than the CPS do to stop child abuse. Both children and animals’ lives matter, but it’s inhumane to prioritize the life of an animal than a child.
